I'm asking you to please remember  my Texas ManCat ~ My Brutus in your prayers.

His allergies returned, and it quickly worsened this week.

I love all my Royals,

but Brutus Truly IS my Heart.

Wildfires of Texas

I read one person's account early last week, describing what my mind can't really comprehend: she described how she witnessed  horses, burning alive and fruitlessly trying to run for safety.

Human lives are in danger, one Firefighter has already died in the line of duty.

I have to admit, this seemed somewhat abstract at first.  Huge hundred acre ranches burning as the families watched.  Ranches far from any recognizable towns I had  heard of, is now becoming closer to "home" to me.  The latest reports I have heard is the fires are now approaching the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

No, this Metropolitan Area may not be in imminent danger, but without having more than an inch of rain in many months, it seems nothing is corrently in sights to control this Killer Wildfire.

This is why We All need to keep the State of Texas close to our thoughts and prayers. This is where so many of God's Creatures live peacefully and in harmony with the land - until Nature somehow miscalculates, and creates lethal conditions.

Please remember to join in and pray for All God's Creatures who may be in the path of this raging fire, and pray that it ceases to exist soon, so that in time, the scorched Earth can be replaced with Bright, Sweet Grass.

We wanted to share Brutus' first go at a brand new sport His Beloved Aunt sent him a few months ago. We feared Our Robust Big Red Texas ManCat may in fact become stuck whilst venturing in for the first time, but He, as many cats of his - umm - "stature" have an uncanny ability to manipulate their size to the occasion...in this case, to the QM's relief!

We are proud to say, HRH has since perfected the task of leaping through the smallest porthole in playful persuit of His sister, Marigold, the Princess Emo!

 We would like to Wish All Our Beloved Subjects a Lovely Spring Tuesday!

We wanted ta tell ya direktly so's your mum, Our Auntie ML won't get all sad n worried n all.

It is just that QM found out t'day she has complikations frum th' surjury the Human Cutting V-E-T- did to her last week and now she's very hurty and swollen in her tummy an' may have to go back to that terribil place that made her smell real awful when she came home Friday! After she came outa the rain room, she smelt more like Our Mum, but she hasnt wanted noms and we's can't lay on her belly fur scritches nomore!

QM needs purrs so's she can heel and not hafta go to th' nasty room where they cut 'beans open in.  All this fur nuthin'.  Your Mommy ML told hers to wait 'till we's get ta Texas, but QM has a hard head.  Now her belleh is almost as hard and we lay wit her and purr, purr like krazykats!

The Young Royals quickly decided Their Hairy Blankie is the Most Favoured Cuddle Spot

 

   The Royals were Blessed when their two Houston Aunties,  Auntie ML   and Auntie Marilynn (Who is Our Momma Grace and two brofurs Audace and Ruses' Momma!) combined green papers to assure that The Royals will at last have one of Peggy's Famous Hairy Blankies!!

Their Fuzzy, Hairy, Cuddly Blankie has earned the Royals' Seal of Approval!

Oh, how blissful!

 

HM Queen Emily was especially taken with the long hairy bits!!

In the Kitchen with Chef!Brutus ~ Baking up a Holiday Treat!

Presenting a  Recipe for an Italian Treat For the All Hallow's Eve  Holiday

This is Chef  Brutus giving a Tutorial on 

 "Prep~Mise en Place" to QM Rose 

this past Spring:

and this was the resulting Dish:

An impromptu blend of sauteed veggies, which was served over Penne Rigate 

for luncheon. 

Brutus has been recognized by Queen Mum* as" HRH Prince Brutus, Iron Chef "

the first feline to hold that prestigious Title.

Today, Chef would like to share with you a Treat  

for your Hooman Companions.

This is an  Old Sicilian Recipe, a biscuit  known as

L'Ossa del Morte

or             

 "Bones of the Dead"

This is a traditional treat, actually available in Good Italian bakeries year 'round.

Queen Mum's Mum, also named Rose, (now residing at The Bridge)

used to use these cookies when QM was an infant, to help with "teething"

They are also good with wine!

           Please  DON'T OFF BY THE OVERALL PREP TIME! 

                      Just a little planning, and this recipe will yield about 30 servings!   

This particular recipe was developed by a Chef on Allrecipes.com  

by the username  of BILLSFRAN

Prep Time: 20 20 minutes ~  REST TIME: 12 HOURS! (Overnight)

Bake Time: approx. 15 minutes

Servings: Approx 30

INGREDIENTS:

1  pound confectioner's sugar

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

2 1/2 tsp baking powder

2 1/2tsp ground cloves

3 eggs, lightly beaten

Directions:

1. Sift together the sugar, flour, baking powder and cloves. Make a well in the mixture

and pour the eggs into the well. Work the eggs into the mixture, first with a fork, then with your hands, until you have a  smooth dough.

2: Line a baking sheet with foil. Roll dough into 1 inch rolls, (resembling tootsie rolls!)

and place each biscuit on the prepared baking sheet. Cover with a clean teatowel and let rest overnight.

Biscuits will spread!

3: Preheat an oven to 350F (175 degrees C)

4: Bake in the preheated oven until golden, about 15 minutes.

Remove biscuits from the pan immediately as they come out of the oven or they will stick.

Cool completely on a wire rack.

And there you have it!

Chef does hope you try these for All Hallow's Eve - they will keep quite long...at least through 2nd November. (All Souls' Day.)

That is, unless your Hooman consumes with a nice bottle of Claret and looses all self-control!

(As QM has been known to do on occasion!)

Emo~Mari generally shuns the limelight, preferring not to be photographed.
It is difficult to get Her to pose for Us.

A Very  GentleKitty She's grown up to be, teasing and bullying of Her brofurs while in Her kittenhood  taken quite well, overall.
She loves scritches under her front legs, and is quite the Vocalist at Bedtime, voicing a perfect "miaow" for each stroke She receives.

Oh, Emily!! How Could You?!!

Our Emily has been quite the affectionate girl these past few weeks, which We have found sweet, and comforting given the rather hard Summer We've just been through.

Last night however, Some little Miss decided to show The Royals Who Exactly Is Queen.

In future, if One could exercise a bit more self-restraint it would be more becoming of a Queen!
