Toesie Tuesday

Happy  Tuesday,  furriends of the CB!

I just want to take a moment to give our heartfelt thanks for the care and concern regarding the 'exclusive' that KC reepurrted on a few days ago.  Things look now to be halfway resolved, and We will be able to breathe easier after May 5th.  At least, until the next gauntlet is thrown.  Ahh, to be Royal even in Recessionary times!

Also, I wanted to introduce you to Our Veterinarians of Choice, collectively known as http://www.vetdispatch.com/  Dr. Hansen of the group is scheduled to pay the Royals a visit on May 5th for a wellness exam and to provide some documentation needed to attest that they are not man-eaters.  A Very Long, sordid story that KC has the background scoop on, if you're wondering!

Today, I have to share a footsie rarely seen by mere commoners...that of HM Queen Emily.  Certain parts of her 'leather bits" are pink - but, like her nose, and as you'll see, her tootsies, are black!  The Basic Fashion Colors that should carry her through Day into Night Attire, with the addition of an accessory or two...or so We've read somewhere.

We're on Our way to visit Old and New Furriends in the Cat Blogosphere~be chatting soon!

With greatest affection,
~~~ Rose ~~~
Newark airport checkpoint closes after 25-pound cat gets stuck under bomb-detection machine
By Mike Frassinelli/The Star-Ledger
February 23, 2010, 8:20PM
newark-airport-terminal.JPGTerminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport in a 2008 file photo. A skittish cat hid under a bomb-detection machine, forcing security officials to shutdown the checkpoint and its owners to miss their flight.
NEWARK -- A skittish kitty lodged itself under a bomb-detection machine at Newark Liberty International Airport during today’s morning rush hour, making its owner miss her flight to Florida and other passengers undergo security screening at a different X-ray machine, officials said.
Port Authority police used a hydraulic device 20 minutes later to lift the heavy machine and free the portly cat that had worked its way under 4 inches of clearance, officials said.
The tale of the Terminal A tabby began around 6:30 a.m. at Checkpoint A-2.
A woman and her young daughter had the brown-and-black cat in a carrier but when they removed it so the container could go through the X-ray machine, the freaked-out feline ran under the CTX explosive-detection device, Port Authority officials said.
That checkpoint was closed and passengers were diverted to another machine.
Officers first tried to use a snare to reach the cat under the bomb-detection machine. But the space was too tight and the cat, estimated to weigh about 25 pounds, managed to elude to snare, officials said.
Sgt. Sanrit Booncome with the Port Authority emergency services unit said the CTX machine weighs a couple thousand pounds, so humans were not going to be able to budge it.
Port Authority Police Officers Brian Ross, Richard Egan, Mauricio Gadaleta and Jimmy Giaguzzi led the rescue attempt.
The combination of the snare and a "hydraulic spreader" to lift an end of the bomb-detection machine allowed the officers to free the cat and return it to the owner and her daughter.
"The guys did a good job," Booncome said.
The woman and her daughter missed their Continental Airlines flight to Florida, but were ecstatic that the cat was unharmed. They planned to return for departure today.
"She was thankful," Booncome said of the woman, who was not identified.
"She was stressed out," he added.
The same could not be said of the portly cat.
"It was tired — it looked relaxed," Booncome said.
We are Thankful for Our Mentors, the Native Americans! November 27 ~ Native American Day
Our most Delightful Fur-iends!
Firstly, Queen Mum fully appreciated the outpouring of concern and well wishes during Her time of heartache and sorrow.  But Good News!  Queen Mum and Her Consort Michael, are mending the rift which came between them, and whilst We remain cautious of his re-introduction into Our Royal Household we are also overjoyed for Her Majesty happiness and embarrassing girl-like glee .
We hope you all enjoyed a peace-filled, tummy-filling and warm Thanksgiving yesterday.  We
enjoyed a repast of Roasted Game Bird in the Scottage fashion, one of Queen Mum's favourites. Along with Ginger Carrots and a mince pie, no one was left wanting. For your pleasure, we have listed the recipe below:
Scottish Recipes: Roasted GrouseScottish Recipes: Roasted Grouse
This recipe for roast grouse includes black pudding (you may have to omit this if it is not available) and griddled green vegetables. It comes from the kitchens of the 5-star Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire.
Recipe Ingredients:
(To serve four):
1lb 2 oz new potatoes
4 sticks celery
1 leek
2 small courgettes
12 baby asparagus tips
8 baby onions
3 tablespoon olive oil
2 oz butter
4 whole grouse [oven ready]
4 oz shallots
2 stalks of fresh thyme , chopped
1 fl oz Madeira
Half pint game or beef jus (gravy)
4 slices black pudding
salt and pepper to taste
Preparation Method:
Place the new potatoes in a pan, cover with salted water and three-quarter cook (10-12 minutes). Drain and refresh under cold water until cool. While the potatoes are cooking, wash trim and cut the celery, leek, and courgette crossways in to 2cm rounds at an angle. Leave the asparagus and onions whole. Lightly season the vegetables and brush with olive oil.
Preheat a griddle pan. Slice the new potatoes lengthways into quarters and fry them with the vegetables on the griddle to create a criss-cross effect. Remove and place on oven tray to reheat later.
Preheat oven to 200C/400F/gas mark 6. Heat the remaining olive oil and 1oz of the butter in a heavy based frying pan. Season the grouse and seal on all sides of the pan. Place in a roasting tray and cook in the oven for about 20 minutes. Leave to rest for approximately 5 minutes.
To make the sauce, peel and finely shred the shallots. Melt the remaining butter in a saucepan, add the shallots and thyme and cover. Cook for about 2 minutes, until just transparent. Add the Madeira and the game or beef jus and bring to the boil. Strain and set aside.
Grill the black pudding on both sides until cooked and crispy. Place on kitchen paper to drain for a few seconds. While the black pudding is cooking, place the vegetables back into the oven for 2 - 3 minutes to reheat.
To assemble the dish, place a slice of black pudding in the centre of each plate and arrange some vegetables and potatoes around it. Place the grouse next to the black pudding. Season the sauce and spoon over.
We would also like to share with you a fact We ourselves just learned of this morning. Today, November 27th, is Native American Heritage Day, bringing to a close the month of November dedicated to the Aboriginal People of The Americas. We encourage you to visit this Website for very interesting facts and History of the Peoples assisted the Colonists when they first ventured forth from Our Home Land. (Reasons behind this migration will remain unsaid, in the Spirit of The Holidays ~ ahem~)
Do enjoy this festive Holiday Season!  Be careful as you venture out with Our fellow revelers, and We shall chat with you very soon!
Who Here knows of a Repair Kit for a Broken (Hooman) Heart?
Cads.  The Lot of them!!  Best be off with their heads!  But alas, Queen Mum remains a pacifist, and so suffers in silence  - and glasses of sherry - as the latest hooman breaks her heart.
We feel it Our Duty to cheer up QM in as best we can. So off to the Photo Archives for a few smiles...
You have our hearts as always, Queen Mum...and a Queen's Consort worthy of your companionship will soon be here.
(although I hate to point out "I told You So," at the first hint of a *ahem*
'cat allergy'
^^cough^^)
Our love has always been, and remains so, your deepest solace, Our Beloved Queen Mum!
Thankful Thursday
Good Day, Effuryone!
We write to you today to convey this sweet message left by the Lady Andrea, who visited Us yesterday!
I just wanted to update everyone on the status of Shane, he is here with me in New Mexico, we are both looking for a job now. I was let go from mine yesterday. I am scared but excited. it's time for a new start. a new FRESH start. Again thank you to everyone that has prayed for his safety, he needed more than we could ever know. Bottom line, he is home, he is safe and we now know that together, the world is ours to take over as long as we are together!
We had been concerned for her and Shane's well-being, and were pleased she thought to drop Us a line or two!
All your purrs and prayers have had an effect in their lives, as evident by their safety and courage in this challenging time of changes for them both.
Blessings and Peace!
Our Gratitude and Thanks for your Caring and Concerned Response!
Whilst We rejoice in the Good News that Shane has been found safe and in good health, We wish to thank you all for your many prayers and purrs for Lady Andrea and Shane in this most distressing of times.
You are the Salt of the Earth, and for you, We are most Priveledged to know you and consider Our Friends and Furriends alike.
Here, a message left last night by Lady Andrea:
Everyone, Shane has been found. He had been struggling a lot in the past 9 days, I told him it was probably nothing compared to what I was going thru, either way. I found him. I love him more than anything and I am so so thankful that he is alive and ok. Prayers and purrs are still needed, this is just the beginning of a new journey. Thank you so much for everyone's support, I know our prayers have been answered!
The power of many gathered together in thoughts and Prayer is formidable and precious. As We are Blessed to know first hand that intercession by Prayer is meaningful and full of Grace, this again demonstrates the Strength you, Our friends in the Cat Blogosphere, can offer a Bean in trying times.
Our heartfelt thanks to you all for aiding Us in this search.
Well done!
A Matter Of Most Serious Concern!!
Please take heed to this most serious of announcements.
It has come to Our attention that a Subject of the Realm has gone missing, a gentleman Bean by the name of Shane. His Lady Andrea, at home in New Mexico is beside herself with worry. We are aware, indeed proud of the strength in numbers The Cat Blogosphere represents, and We come to you today to ask for your Prayers and Purrs, as well as all eyes and ears to assist and aid Shane in his safe return home.
We at this time turn the story over to Lady Andrea to give a full accounting, as best she is able to gather, 2000 miles away from where her Beau Shane was last seen,
Daytona Beach, FL.
I need help from everyone and anyone that is willing to help! I am at the mercy of complete and total strangers. I live in New Mexico and my boyfriend was working in Daytona Beach Florida where he has been missing since Saturday September 5th. I last talked to him at 12:30 my time which was 2:30AM where he was at. Last thing he told me was "I love you baby and I'm coming" (to NM) Sunday goes by, nothing... I call his cell all day long because at this point I'm freaking out because we really haven't gone 1 day without talking to each other since we started talking. I call his phone about 8:30 my time and some guy answers... says he works at this restaurant and they found Shane's phone in the street behind the restaurant...WTF... now I start freaking out. I called his step dad and Susan to ask if they've heard anything... no word. No ones heard from Shane in almost 7 days. Today I get home from work, mind you, I can't sleep, I can't eat, I'm so worried about Shane. I get on the phone and call the Daytona beach jail...nothing, no record... okay... next... I call the Halifax Hospital... and guess what... Shane was checked in and discharged 6 days ago...Sunday... I haven't heard from him, no one has. I'm calling shelters trying to find him... since he lost his phone... did he lose his wallet also with every ones phone number in it? I don't know... is he waiting for someone to find him? I don't know. I'm reaching out to anyone who will listen. I tried to file a missing persons report with the sheriffs department but they won't let me because it has to be done in person. Mind you I am 2000 miles away and it's a 3 day drive or a $500 plane flight. Please if anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated. Here is a description of Shane. Robert "Shane" Franks, he's 37, about 5 10, 175lbs, slender, he has his left arm sleeved with flames starting at the wrist and there are a couple of "real" skulls also. he has a large elephant on his right leg. He keeps his hair short to the scalp, dark brown hair, beautiful brown eyes. Usually keeps a mustache and goatee. he's got a southern accent and great personality, very personable. If anyone sees him please tell him to check his myspace I have messaged him all the contact numbers of myself and his family, info to where his cell phone is. He can call me collect I don't care, I just need to know that he's okay. Please please please somebody help me.
Our Dearest Subjects, you may post here with information, or request Lady Andrea's private e-mail address to contact her personally. She has photos to share of Shane that may assist you. Also, Our Thanks and Blessings if you could provide a link to Our Blog while this Search is underway.
May The Creator Bless and Keep You All.
"I'm ready for My Close-Up..."
A secret Screen-Test was discovered yesterday which has quite upset the Royal Household.
It seems that HRH Princess Marigold, The Princess Emo had answered a request to audition for Quentin Tarantino's next project. The Queen Mum is quite opposed to a career outside of Royal Duties, but The Princess is adamant She will persue a career in the Entertainment Industry.
The fact that Royalty can, in some circles, be considered an Entertainment Industry is lost on Her Royal Highness.
If The Royals are to accept The Princess's Passion, QM wishes She would at least seek counsel and Mentorship from The Greatest Actress of Our Time (and New Jersey native) Meryl Streep.
UPDATE!! HM Queen Emily Reported Under Evil Spell!
PLEASE SEE EARLIER POST BELOW FOR BACKSTORY! Biggify photos with due caution: Some images may prove unsettling!
It has been reported by Staff in Myres Castle that HM Queen Emily has been seen in Her Private Chambers, indulging in 'nip, and other reckless behaviour, which includes Twittering Excessively under the user name "@HotEmXXX" . The most distressful visual symptoms are Her Majesty emulating some of her favourite "I Can Has Cheezburger" images. Above you will see Her Majesty emulating the so-called "Monorail Kitteh".
The most disturbing visual appearance is the eerie glow which has afflicted The Queen. It is reminiscent of that witnessed by Queen Mum to have been in the eyes of the most recent Vishus Deer sighting in the Palace's back garden.
The Royal V.E.T. has been consulted, and will provide a treatment plan to Staff.
Further reports on HM Queen Emily will be forthcoming,
Long Live The Queen!
BREAKING NEWS: Vishus Deer Sighting in New Jersey!
Something has alarmed Princess
Marigold, the Princess Emo!
Her 6th (or is it 7th or 8th?) sense is always spot on, which led me to investigate further...
To my Horror, just outside Our window, stood a Vushus Deer!
BUT! This one had company!
THERE HE WAS! The Apparent offspring of the first Vishus Deer!
Oh, how his eyes glowed with the fires of the Netherworld!!!!
In what seemed to take forever, they finally moved on to seek more vulnerable prey.
Once again, The Royal House of Myres was secure. HM Queen
Emily made a decree to have the Groundskeeper secure the Back Garden against any future security breaches.
